FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What areas of South East Queensland do you service?

We service deceased estate properties across South East Queensland, including Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Moreton Bay, Logan, Ipswich and Redlands. Contact us if the property is outside these areas and we can confirm whether we can assist.

What happens in the free 15-minute consultation?

We’ll ask a few practical questions about the property, explain the three package options, discuss any useful add-ons and outline the likely next step. There is no obligation to proceed.

Will I have the same person throughout the process?

Yes. You are assigned a dedicated Fletchers House Clearance consultant from initial engagement through to completion, so you have one consistent point of contact.

Do I need to be at the property during the clearance?

No. Once the scope, access arrangements and instructions have been agreed, you do not generally need to be present. This can be particularly helpful for interstate executors and beneficiaries.

Can you manage a deceased estate if I live interstate?

Yes. We can coordinate the property locally and keep you informed throughout the agreed service. Optional services including contents cataloguing, family coordination, storage and interstate delivery can also be added where required.

What should we remove before the clearance begins?

Any personal, sentimental, legal, financial or other belongings you know you wish to retain should be identified before clearance begins. If you cannot attend the property, ask us about contents cataloguing and family coordination.

Do you sort and categorise belongings?

Standard packages do not include detailed sorting or categorising. If you need support because you are interstate or cannot attend, contents cataloguing and family coordination can be added as paid services.

What happens to valuable items?

Valuable items can be excluded from the clearance. If requested, we can also coordinate specialist assessment, auction or appropriate resale options as an additional service.

Can belongings be stored rather than removed permanently?

Yes. Secure storage coordination can be added to your package for agreed belongings that need to be retained while estate or family decisions are finalised.

Can you send belongings to family members interstate?

Yes. Packing and interstate delivery coordination is available as an add-on for agreed items.

When can I purchase add-on services?

Add-ons can be selected when you first choose your package or added later if additional needs are identified as the property progresses. Any additional service will be quoted and agreed before it is carried out.

What if the property needs more work than expected?

We will discuss any additional work with you before proceeding. Services outside the agreed scope will be quoted or approved separately.

How long does a deceased estate house clearance take?

Timeframes depend on the size and condition of the property, volume of contents, selected package and any additional services required. Your expected timeframe will be discussed when the property is assessed.

How do you access the property if I live interstate?

Access arrangements are agreed with you before work begins. Depending on the circumstances, this may involve keys being provided or another authorised access arrangement.

Do you dispose of everything as rubbish?

No. Where appropriate and practicable, items may be directed to recycling, donation or other suitable disposal channels. Specialist disposal requirements are quoted separately.

Can you clear, clean and prepare a deceased estate property for sale?

Yes. Gold — Clear, Clean & Market Ready is designed for customers who want the property cleared, cleaned and prepared for market but may already have their own selling arrangements.

What if I want Fletchers House Clearance to sell the property as well?

Platinum — Clear to Sold is the complete service, combining the Gold property preparation service with our licensed real estate agency service through to sale and settlement.

Is a deposit required to get started?

Yes. A 20% deposit is required upon signing the Customer Engagement Contract. Remaining payment arrangements will be set out in your quote and engagement documentation.

Can the cost of the service be paid from the property sale?

No. Service fees cannot be deferred until settlement or deducted from the eventual property sale proceeds. Payments must be made in accordance with the agreed payment terms in your quote and Customer Engagement Contract.
